What FLIP publishes

FLIP exists to give disciples a place to share what God is doing in ordinary life. You don't need a platform, a title, or a polished portfolio — just something true you're learning and a willingness to write it down. Below are the five kinds of writing we publish — pick the one that fits your piece.

Pick the one that fits your piece

FLIP publishes five kinds of writing. They overlap — a testimony often carries a biblical insight — but naming the one you're aiming at keeps a piece clear, and it's the first thing we ask for on the pitch form.

Faith Journey

Purpose
To share how a person's relationship with God has grown over time.
Focus
The ongoing process of following Jesus, including lessons, struggles, and growth.

Example "When I first came to know Christ, I struggled with trusting Him. Over the years, God has taught me to surrender…"

Personal Testimony

Purpose
To testify about what God has done in a specific situation or in one's life.
Focus
A particular event or season where God's faithfulness, healing, provision, or salvation was evident.

Example "God answered my prayer for a job after months of waiting, reminding me that He is always on time."

Devotional Reflection

Purpose
To encourage readers to meditate on Scripture and apply it to daily life.
Focus
A Bible passage with practical application and a prayer or reflection.

Example Scripture: Philippians 4:6–7 → Reflection on surrendering anxiety to God → Closing prayer.

Biblical Insight

Purpose
To explain or teach the meaning of a Bible passage or biblical principle.
Focus
Understanding Scripture through context, interpretation, and theology.

Example "In John 15, Jesus calls Himself the True Vine. This imagery emphasizes our dependence on Him for spiritual fruitfulness."

Prophetic Impression

Purpose
To share what someone believes the Holy Spirit is highlighting for encouragement, exhortation, or comfort.
Focus
A Spirit-led message, image, Scripture, or prompting intended to strengthen others.

Example "While praying, I sensed the Lord reminding some of us that this season of waiting is preparing us for greater faithfulness."

Not sure which one you're writing? Pitch it anyway and choose "Not sure yet" on the form — helping you name it is part of the editing. Whatever the type, the house rules below still apply.

Contributor guidelines

A few simple house rules
  • Write from your own walkTell us what you've actually lived and learned. First-person, specific, and honest beats general and polished every time.
  • Keep it short and one-thingAim for 600–900 words — a 3–6 minute read. One clear idea, one takeaway. We'd rather you go deep on a small thing than wide on a big one.
  • Ground it in ScriptureAnchor your reflection in a passage and cite the reference. Quote a translation accurately; let the text lead and your story illustrate.
  • Stay Christ-centered & denominationally graciousFLIP is for the whole church. Major on what unites us in Christ; hold secondary differences with humility and charity.
  • Submit your own original workWrite it yourself, get permission for any quotes or names you use, and let us know if it's appeared elsewhere. We edit gently and publish under your name.
